Absolute Beginners, Brighton Rock, The Magic Faraway Tree

Yes, that's right kids, they are all books. One of our valued customers Alice, a blow in to Kilburn from Blackpool is launching a book club in the area. It won't be fuddy duddy and it will work roughly like this; agree a book that everyone will read and then deconstruct the bugger over a few liveners in a Kilburn hostelry a month later. The venue will probably change every month depending on interest from the other boozers. Obviously as Kilburn's prime defender of culture, ahem, we have put our hat in the ring. Email Alice on Alice.Moran@tcstown.com

Wouldn't you know it, she's promoting a gig too.
Tuesday night at The Good Ship, that is tonight. 3 great bands and DJ til 2am playing indie stuff...£5 in or £4 with print out of this.
Hugo Sheppard

House of Strange www.myspace.com/houseofstrange

On Wednesday we will show Croatia v England and Ukraine v Scotland at 6 and N.Ireland v Latvia at 8. Music will be on in the front bar for those who can't bear to listen to football.

On Thursday I reckon we have one of the best line ups we have ever had.
The Rebecas www.myspace.com/therebecas Exceptionally underrated band making a lovely Pavement inspired noise.
Deadbeat Descendant www.myspace.com/deadbeatdescendant Outstanding. Melodic, angular, superior lyrics. One of the crop of great new bands from Brighton. Probably own a Fall album or 20.
Havana Guns www.myspace.com/havanaguns Frantic punk pop in the Blondie vein. More New York than London. This band were actually the first new band to ever play in The Good Ship when loads of people turned up to see The Special Needs and they went down a storm.
Punchfight www.myspace.com/punchfightuk . Great.

Saturday, we have 5 bands playing...
LR Rockets www.myspace.com/lrrockets Loon rockers, gigging anywhere that will have them. Playing a spiky punk influenced racket. I'd ask for something of what they're on.
The Routines www.myspace.com/theroutines
Amy Blue www.myspace.com/amyblue
Gin and Static www.myspace.com/ginandstatic
The Hope Trust www.myspace.com/thehopetrust
DJ after til 4am playing indie classics and latest releases plus old school soul, funk, ska and punk
