it's the future...this weekend
Live music fans, you are in for a proper treat this weekend as we have 3 bands on Thursday and 4 each on Friday and Saturday. So once you have won the pop quiz this evening get your dancing shoes on and come along this weekend.
I have listed the line ups below, please do have a listen. Thursday is 8-12 and indie/punky, especially look out for the massively rated The Nudes. Saturday goes from 8-12 and is melodic, plus rock 'n' roll and indie and Sunday is 6pm-11pm lighter, more experimental, avant garde. Of course we are open til 2am and 4am on Saturday after the bands. If you don't like bands come and listen to some house music from 10-4am on Friday instead.
THURSDAY 23rd March
The Nudes
http://www.myspace.com/thenudes
Highly rated and hugely explosive live. The Nudes are one of the few bands I have heard who could be favourably compared to The Ruts.
Hatcham Social
http://www.myspace.com/hatchamsocial
snagging guitar lines and an irrepressible charm say Smiths Magazine
lyrical genius says the esteemed Jon Kennedy
Strange Idols
www.myspace.com/strangeidols
..."curious combination of C86ish sub-swagger with the force of its Postcard forebears and an occasional sprinkling of Talking Headsy martial funk.
SATURDAY 25th March
The Boundary
www.myspace.com/theboundary
Kind of a Yeah Yeah Yeahs with more balls
Bugfly
http://www.myspace.com/bugfly
BUGFLY spit out a serving of furious guitar-driven indie rock that will leave you with little time for pondering on the niceties of life.
Soundbite
www.myspace.com/soundbiteuk
Kind of like rock 'n' roll as would have been practiced in the Wild West by Billy The Kid and Co.
The Mode
www.myspace.com/gregorykirby
A Libertines/Strokes influenced melodic band with a huge fanbase of screaming females!.
SUNDAY 26th March
Jeremy Smoking Jacket
www.myspace.com/jeremysmokingjacket
Jeremy Smoking Jacket produce fantastically refreshing and innovative sounds. Each piece begins with SJ Esau concocting instrumental Loops, from a clarinet note, a bash on the keyboard, or a cymbal. Fellow experimental pioneers Kemp and Max Milton splatter layers of instrumentals, clarinets and haphazard keyboard sounds all over the rough deconstructed canvas of these tracks.
