Hey comrades, Russia's finest indie band Blast are at The Good Ship tonight. Over there they support Blur but noone knows them here but take it from me they are fantasticski (hur hur hur). Actually wading through the rest of the week is no displeasure either. In fact I cannot think of some hyperbole worthy of the week so I shall spare you but Earfood's Sunday session sounds especially tasty.

I hope lots of you were at The GS on Saturday because even though 3 bands pulled out, making it all a massive stress for yours truly, the bands who did come were ace and it was a top, top night. Onto this week and we have all sorts including Rory Eliot who in number 1 in the South African charts on Wednesday wouldn't you know. Hi all, it is our penultimate free Edinburgh review show today, a one woman monologue on dating and the pursuit of fame, free entry. Next Monday to finish off we will go out with a bang with 4 acts but tonight starts at 8 so please do arrive early.

Hiya shipmates, how much did yer miss me last week? Not at all? You rotters. Oh well, I went on holiday to the ould country and didn't have time to send you your weekly dose of fun. However for some free fun Monday night we continue our Edinburgh Festival preview shows, all entirely FREE. We also have a full range of music for the rest of the week from indiepop, through punk, funk and new wave. The full listings are below.

ALSO, if you are 18 or thereabouts please please bring some ID when you come to T'Ship. We try to be as liberal as possible but we cannot break the law so please just bring it. If you are under 18 then ask about various shows and we will accomodate where we can although we cannot let you in on Friday and Saturday nights after 11pm.

For the summer ahead we have loads more DJs and bands lined up and are speaking with various people to put on acts that will help cement Kilburn's reputation as the buzzing but discerning night spot that it is fast becoming.

There will be better versions of such humour (thank Jehova) and more this Monday (today) when the Central School of Speech and Drama hold a publicity gig at The Good Ship for their big Accidental Festival taking place at the ICA. Whilst I am advertising things going on elsewhere check out www.myspace.com/isoprods who had a fundraiser at The Good Ship recently and their play "the London Plays" which has had rave reviews has a week to run, check it out. On a similar thread, if you lke curry there is no finer place in London than the glorious Geeta on Willesden Lane and for Thai, Spicy Basil on Kilburn High Road. Greasy spoon? Efes, opposite us, there you have it.

For those who have not seen them before but like The Smiths, you will love The Smyths, it is a 2 hour love in and untouchable for atmosphere. There are some fine bands on the rest of the week and Champions League football on Tuesday and Wednesday on the gargantuan screen.

This week is actually a monumental week for music at T'Ship. Anglo Svensk brings the best of Swedish pop to Kilburn on Tuesday, OK Karaoke bring an outstanding indie line up on Wednesday, electronica night is on Thursday, Friday is funky, Saturday is a chance to see the talent on show from Kilburn's Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and Sunday is experimental/ambient. I dunno how you all keep up.

Hi all, the sensitive soul that I am it has occurred to me that many of you probably do not get the the chance to read this every week. And probably some of you do not want it atall and regret giving your email address. So if you would prefer to get it monthly (just lists what is on music wise, no wisecracks) or not at all then please let me know.

Right, it is a quietish week at T'Ship with Man U v Roma and Liverpool v PSV on the big screen today and tomorrow. The jukebox is still free and before the week is out it will have new CDs in from Sonic Youth, Special Needs, The Fall and a few more. The weekend kick starts from Thursday with a great band night and we have a fundraiser for a new play on Friday if you fancy meeting some actors. Also, except for Saturday April 21st (which we have had 3 enquiries for) we have balcony free for the whole of April if anyone is having a birthday or something. Dear all, just thought I would tell you first that tonight there is absolutely nothing going on at The Good Ship except Niall and Michelle behind the bar. Get in on the jukebox before they inflict their tastes upon ye. Only Â£1 for 5. I was in The Good Mixer (no relation) last week and it was 5 for TWO pounds. Can you believe it?? No, me neither.

Anyway, cheers to everyone who has come to the Good Ship this month, I reckon this January has been the best month since we opened, great it has been. You know what kids, I have been so chocka that I didn't have time to tell you about the gig on Wednesday or Thursday's acoustic session both of which were great. But fear not as for music lovers we have live music this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on Sunday we have the excellent fashion fair for local designers. I tell you what, we don't sell much drink that day but it is a delight for me to see people walking out with a big smile that says I am happy with my new frock/shoes/bag.

It is a big one. The place will be teeming with record company execs for these hot properties playing on Saturday night and I am reasonably sure we will have a full house so if you want a reserved ticket please email me before the end of the day on Friday. Last call for The Smyths plus the best bunch of Saturdays August has ever seen..

Dear all,
this is the last call for reserving Smyths tickets for Saturday. They will be playing 2 hour long sets (Queen is dead in its entirety and various Smiths/Morrissey) from 9 and from 11 we'll have DJ Maurice playing soul and indie til 4am. Reserving a ticket means it is a fiver in and if there are any left on the night then it will be 6 quid. If you haven't seen the Smyths before then you are missing a treat as they are outstanding. If you don't go and see tribute bands stop being so cool, pretend its Christmas (they're camp enough) and have one diversion.

I'll tell you about the rest of the Saturdays further down but this Thursday is Club Anti Heroes night and is well worth a mention. We have 4 bands playing as detailed below;

Saturday 12th. Adele, Peggy Sue and The Pirates, Kate Nash, Wrong Animal. Adele and Kate Nash could be household names soon. Kate has more plays on Myspace than anyone at the moment and is regularly appearing in the broadsheets and the tabs whilst Adele is currently gracing the airwaves of Radio 1. Peggy Sue make a lovely racket and headliners Wrong Animal have the mesmerising Bee fronting their electro rock cabaret.
Saturday 19th. Lucky Soul, Ten Minute Cloud, Silver Springs and HBird. Lucky Soul's first single was Guardian Guide single of the week and I think their second was better. They are regularly on 6 Music and are a glorious, shimmering band with Motown girl group sensibilities. Ten Minute Cloud make a beautiful, ethereal noise; think The Tindersticks meet Nouvelle Vague and lovely indie pop from Silver Springs and HBird complete the outstanding line up.
Saturday 26th. Again, all over the newspapers we have Flow a NZ/UK melodic pop band with soaring male/female vocals. They introduce themselves and a host of friends on a night of 4 bands.

That's all except to remind you all that the weekly Friday night house night is cancelled so if anyone wants to book anything into a Friday night now is the time to ask.

It's a quietish week at The Ship (notice my subtle shortening there eh???) events wise but before I launch into this week a penultimate reminder that you can reserve tickets for The Smyths gig on Saturday August 5th for just £5 by emailing or calling me. It will sell out and it will also be more expensive for non reserved tickets so you know what to do. We are also reserving tickets for Guardian single of the weekers Lucky Soul + 3 supports on Saturday 12th August.

Also, we are going to be abandoning our weekly house night and having bands on Friday nights in future too. Generally funk, electronic, soul, beats etc with more indie/punk bands on a Saturday. So if you know of any bands that you would like to see let me know.

If anyone has a forthcoming birthday and they want to hire either a Friday or a Saturday (or a week day) then please let me know. We'll almost certainly offer it for free unlike most rip off joints.

Last one from our promoter Ian. Bound to go off with a bang.
Saturday 29th July. During the day from about 3pm we will have the first public reading of a play called Love is Patient. No bands in the evening but we will have DJs from 8pm playing a mix of funk, soul, reggae, ska, pop, punk and indie and it is free entry until midnight and then discovating until 4am.
Sunday 30th July. Our resident blues, funk, soul, rock band Blues of Cain from 7ish. £3 entry.

TUESDAY 18th...Free film night. Leon Mason from Soho books down the road has made a full length film, the clever chap. The first ever showing will be at The Good Ship on Tuesday and it is a psychological drama about 3 exchange students who have some strange things happen to them as they try to leave London. Wooohooooo. There is a free beer available to anyone who answers corrrectly a question about the film at the end.

THURSDAY 20th...Charity music evening. On behalf of the Refugee Council we are hosting the acclaimed folk musician Sam Beer and his band (www.sambeer.co.uk). All the door money plus a percentage of the bar money will go to the charity, although we don't like to talk about it, oh no.

SATURDAY 22nd...4 live bands and DJ after. We have a great lineup this Saturday with the funky and chunky Dmeister headlining, plus support from the outstanding Super Nashwan who are doing their pre Lovebox Weekender show. Plus some stand out funky stuff from The Funkateers and The Honky Tonk Orchestra.

Hello sleepys, that was my attempt at the song they used to do in the cinema when I was a whippersnapper. A fanfare for our month of film where we have 3 FREE events this month for film fans amongst you. As well as 2 FREE comedy nights. Note my use of capitals to get your attention eh? Left school at 16 but will stand my ground with those marketing graduates anyday...

Anyway, there is a change of date for the feature film aftrennon from the 16th to the 30th but look at the website for full details of these events and please do support the film folk who are putting lots of effort to get these shows on. Friday is house night 10 til 4am and on Saturday the DJ will play a mix of house soul and funk til 4am. We will be back to bands on a Saturday from the next one.

Right this Sunday we have the return of the Indoor Sunday Market so whilst everyone is getting sunburnt outside pop in and have a drink in our air conditioned comfort whilst having a look at our designers and vintage clothes merchants. There will be hats, bags, clothes and shoes so hopefully you can pick up a bargain or 5. It is on from 2pm to 630ish pm and entry is entirely FREE. We also have one stall free as well so if anyone wants to sell stuff we'll allow you to do that for free too. Alas, if you buy any drinks they are not free. Sorry!

Right, for July we have 2 seperate comedy nights and 3 film nights so the film and comedy buffs amonst you are well catered for. Best of all they are all FREE as well. Gor blimey, we are good to you.

Dear all, if you know a good bar manager who would fit into the Good Ship let us know as our man Neil is returning to Australia soon as his visa is running out, which is a huge shame cos he is ace.

We have a couple of Saturdays free in the next few months where we are looking to hire all or part of The Good Ship (for FREE in most cases). So if you or anyone you know may be interested in the 8th July, 26th August or 30th September then please let me know as soon as possible.

England's next game in the World Cup is tonight as I'm sure those of you who care know only too well. We will be open from 2pm to catch the Ecuador v Costa Rica game which will probably be better actually but I am sure I will be watching that one alone. If you have bunked off work then come and keep me company else I hope to see some of you for the England match.

This weekend we have a private party on Saturday until 12 after which anyone is allowed in until 2am. Sunday we have the Australia v Brazil game followed by the legendary Aussie blues guitarist Geoff Achison.

Hello all. Right, the world cup starts on Friday and whilst we are showing every game there is also lots to keep those of you not interested in football interested in us. Hope so anyhoo, don't leave us. July is taking shape too with 2 free comedy nights and 2 free film showings but in the meantime here are some bite sized morsels for this week so that you don't have information overload.

WORLD CUP
Firstly for fans of AUSTRALIA we have the last warm up game v Lietchenstein on Wednesday evening at 1030 and we will show all Aussie games on the big screen. Of course, all ENGLAND games too (in fact virtually every game in the tournament) and I strongly recommend arriving no later than 1pm on Saturday so that you can get a good spot. We will also limit numbers as I don't want it too crowded so please try and come early.

THURSDAY
We have a very interesting live bands line up tonight.
Upbeat indie rockers Kaned Citizen, the gorgeous layered sounds of Big Sur, Blondie alike post punk from The Mighty Roars and Brighton loon rockers The Flesh Happening. The lead singer is a bit interesting and naked by the end of the set is not out of the question.

A great line up, free jukebox before and afterwards and bar until 2am.

The irrepressible Dave Clarke and co play their blues, soul, funk each and every Sunday until 12ish and this week they are supported by the lovely soul voice of Louise from Juniper Kick who will get you in the mood from 630pm onwards. Seriously come along and listen to this young lady; her voice is amazing.

World Cup build up and stuff
My apologies to those of you who don't like football. It will always come second to music at The Good Ship but the world cup is something else and we're not just gonna show every game, we will also be probably the only pub in London showing the warm up games this Sunday between Australia and Holland at 2pm and NZ v Brazil at 5. We're going for an international flavour and a celebration of nations. Jeez, I despair of myself at times. Anyhoo for those of you who don't like it...

July and onwards
The comedy will be back; at least two doses of free to get in comedy in July. The standard will be tip top too. Plus the best pop quiz this side of Mongolia shall return. Also we have already had lots of interest in The Smyths and Lucky Soul gigs on August 5th and the 19th respectively. We will do advance ticket sales for those and our regulars will be rewarded with cheapness as ever.
